Equipment

  • Air Fryer

Ingredients

  • 1 pound green beans, washed and trimmed
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Kosher salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat air fryer to 375°F.
  • Using a paper towel, pat beans dry.
  • In a large bowl, toss green beans and oil. Season with salt and pepper and toss again until well covered.
  • Arrange green beans in the air fryer basket. Cook 5 minutes, toss beans, continue cooking 4 more minutes or until the beans are crispy tender and lightly charred.

Notes

Choose green beans that are bright green, with few or no blemishes, and snap easily when bent.
To trim fresh green beans, hold the bean with one hand and using your other hand snip off the tip end of the bean. You can also use a sharp paring knife to cut the tip ends.
To use frozen beans, increase the cooking time by 2 to 3 minutes.
Seasoning Variations
Bacon: Toss cook and crumbled bacon with the green beans after air frying. Use 4 strips of bacon or ¼ cup crumbled bacon. For simplicity, use store-bought real bacon crumbles.
Parmesan Cheese: After turning the beans, sprinkle approximately ¼ cup finely shredded parmesan cheese over the beans. Alternatively you could sprinkle  approximately ¼ cup grated parmesan or ¼ cup Nutritional Yeast immediately after removing the beans from the air fryer.
Taco Seasoning: Omit the salt and pepper and sprinkle the green beans with approximately 1 tablespoon taco seasoning mix.
Middle Eastern Inspired: Toss beans with oil and 1 tablespoon Za'atar. Za'atar can be found in the spice section large grocery stores or you can buy a wonderful organic Za'atar from McCormick Spice online.
North African Inspired: For warm and spicy notes with your green beans, toss Toss beans with oil and 1 tablespoon Ras el Hanout.
