Add water to the inner pot. Place steamer basket in the pot. Arrange broccoli in the basket. Season broccoli with salt.
Close and lock the lid and turn the steam release handle to Sealing. Set your Instant Pot to pressure cook on High for 1 minute.
When the cooking time is done, press Cancel and turn the steam release handle to Venting. When the float valve drops down, remove the lid. The broccoli should be crisp-tender. (If more cooking time is needed, close and lock the lid for 1 minute.)
Immediately transfer broccoli to a serving bowl. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Serve warm.
If you use prepackaged broccoli florets from the produce section, you will need ½ of a bag. Most brands are 12 ounces per bag.
