Old Bay Seasoning is a classic spice blend that I like to have on hand. It makes sense because this iconic seasoning goes so well on so many dishes. But, occasionally I need to reach for one of my substitutes for Old Bay Seasoning including this homemade version of Old Bay Seasoning.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon celery salt
  • ¼ teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 pinch mustard powder
  • 1 pinch ground mace
  • 1 pinch ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch ground cardamom
  • 1 pinch ground allspice
  • 1 pinch ground cloves
  • 1 pinch ground ginger

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, combine all of the ingredients. Transfer the spice mixture to a container with a tight-fitting lid.
  • Store in a cool, dark place for 3 to 6 months.
